15 Jun 2016 - Low Emission Zone campaign continues
Cllr Mark Wright has hit the ground running after being re-elected, and has already submitted formal questions about air quality to the new Mayor, Labour's Marvin Rees. Last year the Labour Party joined Mark's campaign for a Low Emission Zone (LEZ) in Bristol city centre and had a manifesto commitment to it for the 2016 Mayoral election. Mark will hold the Mayor to this promise!
In his question Mark requested the Mayor's provisional time-table for implementing the LEZ in Bristol, and pointed out the urgency, given that:
* Bristol is one of 40 cities in the country which is breaching safe levels for PM2.5 according to the World Health Organisation
* the new Mayor of London has unveiled plans to substantially increase the size of London's LEZ, and to bring forward to 2019 the implementation of the Ultra-LEZ.
