7 Apr 2016 - Councillor goes fourth!
Popular local councillor Dr Mark Wright is to stand for election in the new ward of Hotwells & Harbourside. Dr Wright has represented the city-centre and harbourside area for three terms totalling 11 years as the Liberal Democrat councillor for Cabot ward. Now he's going for a fourth!
The new ward of Hotwells & Harbourside is made mostly of the old Cabot ward, with Hotwells added in from Clifton ward. Polling day is on May 5th, but those people with postal votes will see their ballot papers arrive in just a few days.
Dr Wright commented, "It's been a privilege to serve residents of central Bristol for 11 years so far. I've been humbled by the messages of support I've received from residents since announcing that I would carry on and stand for the new ward. Most of the residents of Hotwells & Harbourside have known me for 11 years, but some residents of Hotwells don't know me as well yet. I hope to show them that I'm worth their vote!"
Residents will get three ballot papers: one for local councillor, one for Mayor, and one for police commissioner.
Dr Wright added, "The city centre and harbourside area has been represented by Lib Dems for decades, but last year the Labour Party won Bristol West from us. So this year is going to be between me and the Labour Party in Hotwells & Harbourside ward. And when you vote, remember that I and my local helpers keep you updated via email and paper newsletters, working all year round, not just at election time!"
